The question of whether the evolution into complete self-realization, Awakening, can be possible without the presence of a spiritual Master, Teacher, Guru, or any other term used to describe the presence of a spiritual guide whose role is to direct the sensitivity, intelligence, and efforts of the student, has always been a contraversial issue. The doubt has been raised mainly due to the growing phenomena of false guides who were abusing the good will and volunerability of their students, creating more damage then benefit to their spiritual growth.

Although ultimately evolution takes place only as a result of entrance of energy of grace ,entering the individualized consciousness of a student, slowly removing the personal boundries of the Human-I, towads the realization of the eternal, the presence of a genuine evolved being as guide to the novice practitioner is one of an enormous contribution to one's practice. The contribution is significant on many levels of the practice. clarification of the path, verification of attainment, encouragement and inspiration, and above all, the transmission of energy to the consciousness of the student which is an esoteric energy link, created at a certain point between the soul of the sincere student, and the soul of the teacher. This esoteric dialogue takes places in the realm of the souls and is based on esoteric guidance transmitted to the soul of the student. As if the soul of the teacher is transmitting to the soul of the student evolved energy which helps the creation of certain openings within the consciousness of the student. Openings which help the student enter a new state of his own consciousness in its' deeper layers. These glimpses brings clarity to the students intelligence, and inspire him towards stabilizing the glimpsed state. This transmission of energy can be described as osmosys of higer energies towards lower energies, and by doing so they elevate them to higher state. This transmitted state, although usualy has temporary nature, is the key to the students' realization of his own potential within oneself.

The transmission of energy is possible due the energetic surrender of the student's mind and various layers of of the students' consciousness. The moment sensitivity and openess are present within this relationships between master and student, then such transmission is possible. Provided of course, that this guide is really a genuine evolved soul on the sacred path of realizing the Self.

This transmission in the Hindu tradition is called Satsang. "sitting within Truth".
